IMPRESS LAUNCHES RE-SEALABLE BOTTLE CANS

Impress announced its first product launch for re-sealable bottle cans in Europe resulting from a strategic alliance between Impress Group B.V. and Daiwa Can Japan, which was signed in August 2009. This launch marks the first commercialised product on the European market for Impress and Daiwa.

WORC for L’eau rouge
A specific bottle can format has been chosen to launch L’eau rouge – infusion d´hibiscus: WORC (Wide Open Re-sealable Can) 170ml. WORC is a laminated, necked, and threaded 3-piece steel bottle with a large diameter aluminium closure. The filled bottles are double seamed with a 52mm diameter food end. The metal bottle can be hot filled, pasteurised or heat-sterilised. Established food can lines can be adapted to run this type of package.

“This packaging is completely new to the market and breaks with traditional packaging formats used for most energy and soft drinks”, Philippe Cancel, the owner of L´eau rouge enterprise SAS said, “WORC is easy to open and drink from. Its wide top enables an even aroma release. Consumers love the new product / pack development.” Cancel adds, “Development and technical support from Impress facilitated the successful introduction to the marketplace.” L´eau rouge is sold in the trendy store Colette in Paris, in bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the South of France, and online www.eau-rouge.info. L´eau rouge will be featured at SIAL in Paris, from 17 to 21 October in hall 8, A030.

Doreen Decker, Marketing Manager, Impress Group, said, “This is a great start for our new bottle cans segment. We are confident we can build a good level of sales with Daiwa’s support.”
