One of Europe’s largest contract packers for A-brand owners in the FMCG-market - Budelpack Poortvliet BV and the specialist in Europe in the field of IML packs - Moens Mouldings Group BV are all set to introduce an innovating packing concept: Snapsil, due to be launched throughout Europe at the end of 2010.
Snapsil is a portion pack with an innovative 'snap-opening' which is very easy to open and to recluse with one hand. Snapsil is applicable to a wide range of products, such as vegetable food, dressing, sauces, candy, bubble gum, powders, cleaners and various granulates, like bite size chocolate and makes it very simple to dose in a controlled way because of the tailor-made dispensing opening, geared to the type of product. There are also different varieties available for these products like Snap 'n Grow, Snap 'n Dispense and Snap 'n Pour. The manufacturers also see significant sales potential in the in-flight catering and savoury foods markets.
Budelpack introduces Snapsil in cooperation with Moens Mouldings Group from Beverwijk and the Snapsil Corporation from Birtinya , Australia . By means of this cooperation the complete supply chain has been organised which enables brand owners to realise a very short time-to-market, even from 12 weeks, so indicates Peter Nieuwkerk, Managing Director of Budelpack.
Wim Moens of Moens Mouldings completes his words: “there is a strongly growing need for packaging innovations which can be brought to the market with low risk and low costs but with high speed. The unique cooperation between Moens, Budelpack and the Snapsil Corporation enables this”. The Snapsil packaging machine is operational as from September 2010.
"Prior to the launch, we have held many so-called NBD meetings (New Business Development) with major brand owners," Peter Nieuwkerk told Packaging Europe. "As a result of their positive response, we have decided to launch Snapsil. Although no orders have been booked yet as Budelpack pro-actively launches new concepts, it is likely that we can announce the very first Snapsil launch end of Q4 or early Q1-2011."
The Snapsil packaging is made of lightweight PP. The covering foil can be made of OPP/PE, Pap/PE or PET/PE depending on the needs. For the secondary packaging every desired variety can be offered. A thermoform solution is under development.
