Nestlé launches Impress “Easy Scoop” for its high value baby foods.

Nestlé, the world’s leading food company, will launch the new Impress “Easy Scoop” for its high value infant formula product range in metal cans. “Easy Scoop” is designed to store the spoon separately from the infant formula powder, through a Deep Drawn End. The technical innovation “Deep Drawn End” (DDE) consists of a deep drawn ring, with an aluminium foil sealed to the inner part of the ring. The spoon is then placed on top of the aluminium foil and can also be stored there after opening.

Easy Scoop Impress Project Manager, Jelmer Jongsma commented: “We have achieved a breakthrough innovation. The unique combination of drawing and sealing technologies have both being developed in-house. This underlines our technical capabilities and know how to translate customer requirements into successful innovations”.

DDE products (diameter 99 and 127 mm) are manufactured at the Impress Dutch Hoogeveen plant, which focuses on cans and closures for the worldwide babyfood market. Nestlé plans to unveil Easy Scoop to the Belgium market and, thereafter, roll it out internationally.

Woep Möller, Impress Managing Director Specialities commented: " Impress has proved again its ability to develop and supply a tailored solution for a very demanding market. I am particularly pleased that Nestlé has chosen metal packaging for this showcase product since it underlines its key features of sustainability, modernity and consumer convenience and supports our vision that metal is the packaging material for the 21st century”.

For Nestlé, delighting consumers is at the heart of all product innovation / renovation efforts. As regards packaging, the move to Easy Scoop is a major step forward in fulfilling key consumer needs by offering a packaging solution with significantly enhanced convenience, hygiene and safety.
