Primera Technology, Inc. presented its new FX1200e Finisher at the Emballage Packaging Exhibition. As a leading manufacturer of specialty printers and production systems in the label industry Primera is attending Emballage for the very first time and is using the opportunity to showcase the FX1200e Digital Finishing System to the French market. The FX1200e offers, in one single automatic process, the ability to laminate, die cut, slit, rewind and remove the waste matrix.

“For our existing CX1200e Digital Label Press we needed a finishing solution that revolutionized the whole process. The few other finishing systems available were not fast enough, not reliable enough and not easy enough to use. That’s why we designed our own system that is ideal for use with the CX1200e, but also suitable for use with other narrow web output engines,” said Andreas Hoffmann, managing director of Primera Technology Europe.

One of the major benefits of the system is the finishing speed of up to 6.1 meters per minute, which is accomplished with Primera’s patent-pending exclusive QuadraCut technology. QuadraCut uses up to four knife blades at a time across the web. This feature dramatically increases throughput compared to systems that have just a single blade.

Instead of hard tooled or flexible steel dies, the FX1200e uses digitally controlled tungsten carbide steel knife blades. “This means that users never have to buy a die or wait for it to be made and delivered,” adds Hoffmann. “Turnarounds will be faster and there is a significant saving in time and cost.”
